Tooth roots still in my gum

Tooth roots still in my gum
Added: June 02, 2005 - 2:41 PM
By: Patient Email Withheld, Pasadena, MD
Need Dentist / Specialist: No
Provide Cost Estimate: No
X-rays Available: No
Case Summary
Broken Tooth
Teeth:
Last Full Mouth X-Ray: Mar 2003
Last Cleaning: Mar 2003
Case Description
My tooth fell out, it has had a root canal and presents no pain. I'm hoping I can hold off until 2006 when my dental plan changes, and I can go out of network. I wouldn't think the stem roots will cause any serious health risk at this time? It is the purple one that needs pulling..

When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
  • Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
  • Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description, special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
  • Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
  • Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors. Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

Purple doesn't sound good. Retained roots in the mouth, especially unsupervised (by a DDS), can be a sorce of a very serious infection.

These infections can even be life threating. I would not let dental insurance dictate your dental care. Dental insurance benifits have not increased since the 1960's so dont expect it to help much especially if you been putting off alot of dental work. You should choose a dentist that you feel comfortable with and have confidence in. Most dentists, if not all can assist you with dental expence by working with a finance company. Good Luck and get that looked at,
